Former Miss Black USA & Etiquette Instructor Ocielia Sprowl has over 15 years of compelling speaking, successful mentoring and community outreach experience that gives her a unique gift to not only inspire women and girls, but forge relationships and transformation wherever she goes. Being a speaker and former beauty queen, her unique approach helps women and girls discover their identity outside of society’s standards. She is firm believer that once young women realize the truth of who they are, self-esteem is not a struggle.
She is Founder of More Than a Pretty Face International, a self-development company that she initially founded as an outreach to girls in under-served communities. Now with international reach, More Than a Pretty Face has helped women and girls flourish throughout the US and Kenya. She is nationally certified etiquette consultant through National Association of Urban Etiquette Professionals. Ocielia’s work has been recognized with her receiving Pine-Sol’s Women Making a Powerful Difference Award and being the youngest woman recognized as an Unsung Hero for her programming by EBONY Magazine.
In 2011, Ocielia became the first woman from the state of Texas to be crowned Miss Black USA. Her experience as Miss Black USA, led her to author her first book, More Than a Pretty: Redefining Beauty through the Lens of Scripture, which has been shared with girls around the world, helping them begin the process of identity and confidence development.
