THE 2025 RUBY HARDY-MINTER ADVISOR OF THE YEAR NOMINATION

The HBCU Kings & Queens Conference has named its annual advising award in honor and memoriam of Ruby Hardy-Minter, as a lasting legacy for her dedication, passion, and service to the Royal Court at LeMoyne-Owen College. In 2004, Professor Minter established the Royal Connection Leadership Organization as an official organization and training program on LeMoyne-Owen’s campus. Her remarkable contributions led to her being named our first Advisor of the Year in 2012, and, due to her unwavering commitment, she earned the title again in 2018. As of 2025, she remains the only advisor to have won the award twice. Her steadfast support for the Kings and Queens speaks volumes about her character, commitment, and deep concern—not just for her students, but for all students. Ms. Minter was a passionate advocate, volunteer, mentor, and supporter of the HBCU Kings & Queens Conference, attending for over 20 years. The HBCU Kings & Queens Conference is forever grateful for her guidance and will honor her legacy through this outstanding award.

If you have an extraordinary Advisor who exemplifies dedication, commitment, and the innovative ability to enhance your reign, nominate them now!

LEADERSHIP FOR QUEENS & KINGS' KONNECTION CONFERENCE ASSISTANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Leadership for Queens and Kings' Konnection Conference Assistance Scholarship

As part of our mission at Leadership for Queens and Kings’ Konnection, we are dedicated to making leadership training accessible to all HBCU Kings and Queens. In alignment with our strategic plan, we offer a limited number of Conference Assistance Scholarships on a case-by-case basis.

While some HBCUs face resource challenges, this scholarship aims to support royal court members who are eager to make a difference on their campus and are seeking leadership training through the Annual HBCU Kings & Queens Conference.

This scholarship is based on financial need and is exclusively open to the official king or queen of the university or college, as well as one university official/advisor. The king or queen must submit a written essay that not only expresses their desire to attend the conference but also demonstrates the financial need or hardship that attending the conference would create for the individual or their institution.

Upon submission of the necessary paperwork, the scholarship committee—comprised of the Board of Directors and conference staff members—will review all applications and select a predetermined number of recipients (based on available funding) to receive scholarships. The scholarships will cover conference registration only; travel, lodging, per diem, and other associated costs are not included.

Priority Consideration: First-time conference attendees, colleges, and universities will be given priority.

Note: Only one scholarship will be awarded per university or college each year. Click below for more details. Deadline May 31, 2025.
